CARBON REDUCTION PLAN
Purpose
The purpose of this document is to describe the Carbon Reduction Plan for Spirit Health Group Ltd.
Company Overview
Spirit Health Group is a UK-based healthcare provider, our mission is to make health easy and accessible for all.
We aim to take the complications out of healthcare, improve the lives of patients and provide the best value for healthcare providers. We step back and take the time to understand the challenges our patients, partners and staff are facing.
Our services include cost-effective medicines optimisation programmes, innovative digital health technology, high-quality education services, and our diabetes-specialist pharmacy.
Spirit Health Group operates a hybrid working environment, maintaining office premises in Leicester as well as staff working from home within the UK.
Spirit Health Group consists of four divisions;
Spirit Corporate Services
Spirit Corporate Services provide centralised services to the other divisions within the group, consisting of Customer Services, Finance, IT, Marketing, People and HR, Procurement and Quality, Regulatory, Governance Compliance and Operations.
Spirit Digital
Spirit Digital develops and markets digital health solutions, with a focus on shifting patient care from traditional settings into patients’ homes; our digital technology called Clinitouch is helping to make healthcare safer, smarter, and more efficient.
Medicines Optimisation
Medicines Optimisation offer several different tools and services to medicines optimisation teams within the NHS to save them money. By performing prescribing savings audits and active implementation services, we provide quality, cost effective products to reduce NHS spend.
Clinical Services
The Clinical Services division provide a range of education services to help people with long-term conditions, including our award-winning diabetes education programme, EMPOWER, our versatile Booking Hub, and weight management programme.
Spirit Pharmacy
Spirit Pharmacy is an online pharmacy that offers an NHS prescription home delivery service, along with additional services especially for people living with diabetes.

Commitment to achieving Net Zero
Spirit Health Group is committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050.
Baseline Emissions Footprint:
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions that have been produced in the past.
Spirit Health Group have set our baseline emissions for FYE 2024.
Baseline emissions were originally to be calculated based on FYE 2021, but recent significant world events such as the Covid 19 pandemic and conflict in the Middle East have impacted our emissions contributions, namely in our logistics chains.
As a result, it was deemed necessary to recalculate and align our baseline emissions to FYE 2024 to account for these events. This has caused a baseline measurement which is not representative of a normal operating year to be established.
The recalculation of this data has not negatively impacted on our commitment to achieve Net Zero by 2050.
Emissions Data
*Purchased energy can be measured in two ways. A location-based methodology reflects the average emissions intensity of grids on which energy consumption occurs, using grid-average emission factor data. Market-based methodology reflects emissions from electricity that companies have purposefully chosen. A market-based method therefore takes into consideration the purchase of energy via a renewable tariff. Spirit Health Group opt to base our emissions data using market-based methodology.
Emissions Reduction Targets
Spirit is committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050.
The below reduction targets address our measured emissions categories. As defined by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), to achieve true Net Zero an organization must achieve 90% reductions across its whole operational baseline once measured, and we are acting on this requirement as part of achieving our Net Zero goals.
Short-term targets (by 2030)
- Reduce measured scope 3 emissions by 7% each year
- Procure 100% renewable energy by 2030
Long-term targets:
- Reduce total market-based emissions by 90% by 2050.
Invest in carbon offset initiatives for residual emissions.

Carbon Reduction Projects
As an organization, Spirit has been committed to environmental improvement since its inception. The following environmental related projects have been implemented since, to reduce Spirit’s carbon footprint.

Declaration Statement
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.
Emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and use relevant appropriate government emissions conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting.
